NYC...Day 1
Here we are, at the end of our first day here in NYC...what a delightfully big, new place.
We enjoyed fresh muffins from the Italian bakery up the street for breakfast, and took a lovely stroll around our neighborhood. The streets are lined with quiet brownstone homes, many pedestrians, and quite a few parents out with kids on Saturday walks. We will be able to find almost everything we will need on a frequent basis within about 4 blocks of our home. The supermarket here is delightful, it has SUCH variety, but with a small quantity of each item, tightly packed shelves, and very narrow aisles. Grocery's are fresh every couple days ;)
Around 11, we headed out for 212Box, our office in Manhattan. We got our metro passes, took an uneventful first subway ride, and emerged in lower Manhattan to big fluffy snowflakes falling from the chill gray sky. Our office is up on the 11th floor, and our windows look out over ground zero where the new WTC Subway station is going up. We had a great 4 hour visit with our new employers, Eric and Yun. Let's just say, the year ahead is going to be filled with huge learning opportunities, and wonderful projects. Blown away at some of the things God has arranged here!
After our introduction at the office (the far right building above), we had another uneventful train ride back home to Carroll Heights in Brooklyn, and took a little jaunt through the rain the last four blocks to the apartment. We had our first home cooked meal (if tuna wraps, clam chowder and a leftover muffin count), and are settling in for a quiet evening at home...budgeting, catching up with family and friends, and sleeping before church in the morning!
Thank you all for the prayers, we are exceedingly blessed at how smoothly things have gone so far! We will need that support throughout the coming year, as we are to soon be entrusted with greater responsibility. To God be the glory!!
